STATISTICA – analytical software designed for operation in various research environments: any setting where a research team analyzes common data and enjoys the advantages of teamwork. The software enables: efficient teamwork, sharing of knowledge and user co-operation, easy and quick access to data from external sources, with a possibility of data processing on the server (no need to create a local copy of processed data), automatic data monitoring, automatic response, data dissemination, convenient system administration.

In the context of the Centre’s research and development work related to the operations of ships and offshore facilities, the program has a range of applications:

  • analysis of input data on vessels (data bases of HELCOM , IMO, VTS , VTMS ) and other data bases,
  • analysis of hazards and identification of events – quantitative and qualitative analysis of individual hazards occurring at sea and in ports,
  • statistical analyses of data prepared in IWRAP MK and GOLD SIM systems, to obtain, for example, probability density function of individual events, analysis of natural or hydrotechnical phenomena, technical failures etc.,
  • calculation of failure probability – estimation of parameters related to navigational and technical reliability, calculations of probability values,
  • determinationof risk levels – bar charts, other diagrams, etc., graphic interpretation in accordance to publication standards,
  • determination of risk acceptability criterion – comparative analysis of data, presentation of systems,
  • development of risk reduction methods – calculating safe manoeuvring and technical-operational parameters,
  • obliczenia wielowymiarowych

ITEM is used for the quantitative risk assessment and management, particularly for the identification of hazards and their main causative factors, integration of the hazards on a time axis, indication of a sequence of events, determination of failure probability, ranking of hazards and sensitivity analysis. ITEM uses the methodology of an event tree for graphic presentation of logical interactions and probability of fault-causing factor occurrence, and other events in a system.

In the context of the Centre’s research on ship and offshore platform operation risks, the program is used for:

  • analysis of hazards using: Hazard and Operability Study, Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, Preliminary Hazard Analysis,
  • determination of risk levels, modeling of risk quantity; input data from specific research areas will be obtained owing to the Centre’s wide range of research software and devices; risk analysis can be made in conformity with Formal Safety Assessment  (FSA).
  • determination of a risk acceptability criterion by creating measures, diagrams and criteria concerning energy, social or financial issues,
  • development of a risk management method by devising a system of risk management conforming to FSA,
  • development of risk reduction methods by formulating guidelines for risk reduction complying with FSA.
